At Queen's Park - day 39

Today we were not alone on the Queen's Park grounds. There were people on a Walk for Justice. Family members and friends of victims of violent crimes. Sometimes, when facing other people suffering I am lost for words, and I shy away. What do you say to a mother who lost her teenage son to senseless act of violence? That "everything happens for a reason"? People say it to me quite often when we talk about Sebastian's autism . Am I too sensitive or is it quite a crude thing to say? I hear it most often from people of faith. I myself feel an urge to get off my comfortable agnostic fence, but I would never dare to say to person facing suffering or loss that its is all for the best.

Simon came to Toronto with us today.

  1. Will Sebastian let people carry him? Or only particular people?

  2. Sebastian does not have a problem with physical contact. Simon knows and has been carrying him from birth, so they have special relationship.
